Vinyl can now be printed, cut wrapped, laid you name it. The industry has created vinyls for every type of design and signage you can think of now. We will try to cover most of it here.
Cut vinyl refers to cut lettering, Halo, die cut and contour cuts.
Lettering cut from vinyl can be cut in thousands of fonts and hundreds of colors. Place on doors to display room numbers and nameplates. Use to indicate emergency exits, warning signs, and fire extinguisher locations. Place on storefronts to display sales, promotions, or menu items if you sell food. The strong adhesive is also effective in attaching vinyl lettering to company or personal cars. Vinyl lettering is suitable for outdoor use and can withstand rain or direct sunlight. Of course, prolonged exposure to either will deteriorate the product faster than if it were placed indoors.
Making a sign that is cut to a specific shape or along the exact edge of a design is achieved by using a custom cut. This cut is achieved by using a digital cutter or router, which creates a precise cut (sometimes referred to as a contour cut) along the edge of your design. Your sign will be printed before cutting to ensure that your design is cut to the exact edge of your design.
Similar to the custom shape option, which cuts to the contour or exact outline your sign, the custom with border option (previously known as or sometimes referred to as halo cut) will cut around the edges of your design. What sets this cut apart from a custom or contour cut is the border that is left around the edges of the sign. This border is ¼” – ½” in thickness, which provides a sort of ‘bubble effect’ around the outside of your sign.
Die cutting is sometimes used synonymously with contour or custom shape cutting but, in actuality, they are two completely different cutting processes. If you’re looking for a custom cut, a die cut will not provide you with the desired results. The die cutting process can be equated to using a cookie cutter to make exact shapes in a material. Like with a cookie cutter, die cutting uses a stenciled (die) design that is made from aluminum, which is pressed on a material to punch out shapes and designs.
There are many types of vinyl for different surfaces now that are printable. Your designs can be added to anything now. Brick Walls, Floors, Windows, Vehicles, airplanes, boats. The possibilities now are endless.

What is the acrylic sign letter difference?
Acrylic is a great plastic material to use for signs because it is an outdoor material that is very durable and affordable. Acrylic letters can be easily cut and shaped into many font styles, graphics and logos. Acrylic sign letters are light weight so they are safe and easy to install.
Acrylic sign letters look great both near and afar so they can be used either indoors or outdoors. The acrylic material has durable chemical properties so they can last outdoors in extreme hot or cold temperatures and resist fading in direct UV sun light. Acrylic lettering with a metal laminate, however, is not outdoor rated because its edges will chip over time.
Acrylic sign letters are cut out from a flat solid sheet by a computer driven laser. The solid acylic sheets are available in four thicknesses up to 1/2 inch and 30 brilliant colors. The laser cut out letters have a smooth polished face and edge. Each individually cut out acrylic sign letter comes complete with mounting hardware and is easy to install in minutes.
Minnesota letters are so popular because you can get the look of cast metal letters but at the low cost and fast turnaround of plastic letters. Minnesota letters are light weight and easy to install, outdoor rated, these letters are more durable than most plastic letters because of their greater wall thickness and come with a lifetime guarantee.
Minnesota sign letters have heated plastic injected into a mold. The injected molded letters are de-burred and prepped for painting. The letters have mounting attachments glued to their backs.
The Minnesota Letters have a sharp, deeper depth than formed plastic letters which have slightly rounded over sides that return back to the wall at 105 degrees. Minnesota letters return back at a sharp 90 degree angle making them look more like a metal letter. Minnesota letters are painted and formed plastic letters are solid pigmented color.
Formed plastic building sign letters are a three dimensional formed letter used for exterior sign identification. Outdoor plastic sign letters are made from a special, durable CAB plastic and are guaranteed for life from fading or breakage. The plastic sign letters are available in 30 weather resistant colors. Each individually molded plastic building sign letter comes complete with mounting hardware and installs in minutes.
Plastic building sign letters can be produced quickly and more economically than flat cut out acrylic letters. Formed plastic letters also have added depth to stand off from a building wall than flat acrylic letters. Plastic building sign letters are available in fifty font styles and standard sizes whereas flat cut acrylic has unlimited options. Plastic building sign letters cannot be backlit or used as a channel letter.
Plastic building sign letters have a sheet of plastic melted over a mold. The vacuum formed letters are cut and deburred. The letters then have mounting attachments glued to their backs.
Basically an LED is a small light bulb. However, it is different from incandescent light bulbs in a few key areas:
For those that don’t know, the filament in an incandescent light bulb is where the light is produced. The filament is heated with electricity and the result is light; sort of. It would be more accurate to say ‘The result is light and heat’. Why is that important? Because the object of a light bulb is to produce light which means the energy/electricity used to produce heat is wasted! Have you ever touched a light bulb that had been on for awhile? It took electricity to make the light bulb hot. When your light bulb uses a filament, there is no way around the wasted heat/electricity.
LEDs do not use filaments. That is why they are more efficient, almost all the electricity is used for making light, not heat! In other words, it doesn’t cost an arm and a leg to run an LED sign because the LEDs are so efficient. The old variable message signs which used incandescent bulbs ran up massive electric bills of $500 per month OR MORE. With the advent of the LED in signs those electric bills dropped to $50 or less per month.
The LEDs used in most LED Signs are rated to last approximately 100,000 hours (about 11 years). That is a long time.
These are custom built to order and can be built in any shape size and design.
Neon signs are electric signs lighted by long luminous gas-discharge tubes that contain rarefied neon or other gases. They are the most common use for neon lighting, which was first demonstrated in a modern form in December 1910 by Georges Claude at the Paris Motor Show.
Hollow glass tubes used to make neon lamps come in 4, 5 and 8 ft lengths. To shape the tubes, the glass is heated by lit gas and forced air. Several compositions of glass are used depending on the country and supplier. What is called ‘Soft’ glass has compositions including lead glass, soda-lime glass, and barium glass. “Hard” glass in the borosilicate family is also used. Depending on the glass composition, the working range of glass is from 1600′ F to over 2200’F. The temperature of the air-gas flame depending on the fuel and ratio is approximately 3000’F using propane gas.
How are cut out or cast metal signs and Plaques produced?
Flat Metals are precision cut with high pressure water jet and laser. The metal comes in a flat sheet and is placed on a table where a computer driven water-jet cuts each letter to precision.
Cast Metals are made with molten metal that is poured into molds.
What are the benefits of metal sign letters?
Strength, texture, image and durability. They come in Fabricated Cast or cut.
How do aluminum, brass, copper and bronze letters compare?
Aluminum letters are lighter, won’t rust and are less expensive. Aluminum has a natural color of silver, but can be painted any color. Bronze and brass are harder, more expensive copper alloy metals.
Can you make custom logos and fonts with metal sign letters?
Yes we can make custom logos and graphics with flat cut out metal materials.
Strength, texture, image and durability. Each metal letter is precision cast in aluminum or bronze using up to twenty distinct manufacturing steps. The metal provides depth and permanence to your image. Seven metal finishes give you the choice of dazzling shine, brilliant color, or natural and antiquated metal. Combine these finishes with an extensive selection of letter styles to design signs that reflect your individual image
Precision cut with high pressure water jet and laser. The metal comes in a flat sheet and is placed on a table where a computer driven waterjet cuts each letter to precision. Waterjet cut letters are made using a fine, high pressure stream of water that carries an abrasive mineral. This fine stream cuts and allows for sharp, precise corners and intricate detail on small letters and characters.
Channel letter signage can be customized to fit your needs, including most fonts, color, size, and design wishes. You can also select from a range of channel letter types to find the right fit for their store and budget
In terms of how the channel letter signs are illuminated, there are two choices: LED or neon. As the use of neon illumination has decreased in popularity, LED channel letters have become the most common letter type. The technology of LED channel letter illumination has improved to the point that it can rival neon illumination and it’s also energy efficient.
Channel letter signs are eye-catching and professional, which is why many store owners choose them. You can see channel letter signs used by national brands and chains, because they’re an effective component of a brand awareness program. This is why channel letter signage is a common choice for grocery stores, restaurants, and retailers seeking to enhance brand recognition.
Not a lot of picture on these because they are all branded.
Foam is affordable and can be used indoor and outdoors.
We offer foam sign letters in high density polystyrene for temporary or fast indoor applications and Corafoam letters for durable outdoor applications.
Polystyrene is like Styrofoam letters without the brand name price. Corafoam letters are made from a high density foam that is impervious to moisture, rot, and bugs.
These are fantastic materials because they are extremely lightweight and come in thick panels to make large sign letters without the bulk.
Large foam letters demand attention as signs, or installations for big events. Face these foam letters with acrylic or metal and get thick, colorful letters that make an impact.
While monument signs may be on the more expensive side when it comes to exterior signage, they are well worth every penny. Once you install them, they continue to work to advertise your business, without you having to do anything. This alone is an excellent reason to install them.
When most people think of the materials used to build monument signs, they think of concrete or stone. But it doesn’t have to be just those two materials. You can use anything from exterior-rated foam to brick to wood to create your sign.
This might seem a bit strange to have to explain, but monument signs are generally associated with upscale businesses. Because of this, if you install this type of sign on your property, you will encourage visitors and customers to think of your company as having prestige and dignity. That’s valued added, isn’t it?
Like other signs they get the word out. Depending on the print process, they can be outdoor signs as well. They also have a history of being comical wall signs as well.
